Jen-Hsun Huang: Competition and cooperation between the US and China can coexist, and the global Supply Chain will not depeg from each other.

NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang discussed his observations on the Chinese Supply Chain, the future of AI technology, and NVIDIA's role in the US-China competition during an interview in Beijing on July 20. He stated that the global Supply Chain is closely interconnected and will not depeg, and that a balance between competition and cooperation can be found between the US and China.

China is a key hub in the global Supply Chain.

Jen-Hsun Huang emphasized that China has the largest, most complex, and most diversified Supply Chain in the world. Not only does it produce for itself, but it also manufactures components, control systems, and parts, playing a key role in the global supply chain. Even as the global supply chain begins to push for diversification and build redundancies, they will still be interconnected and cannot completely depeg, due to the high complexity of the industries. The United States is also unlikely, and unnecessary, to produce everything by itself, while China's supply chain expertise is more likely to be exported worldwide in the future.

China's R&D in AI is very good at innovating with "limited resources".

Next, Jen-Hsun Huang talked about AI, specifically mentioning DeepSeek's R1 model, which can redesign the model's computation method to fully utilize the advantages of the H20 chip to achieve world-class standards. He believes that this is the innovative result forced out of humanity under pressure and limitations, such as the DeepSeek, Alibaba's "Qwen", Moonshot, Kimi, and other AI models, as well as Chinese electric vehicles; these are all breakthroughs made under limited conditions.

China's technological strength should not be underestimated, calling for coexistence of competition and cooperation between the US and China.

Jen-Hsun Huang then recalled that when he came to China 30 years ago, there were only Lenovo and Great Wall Computer, but now the partners include Alibaba, Meituan, Tencent, Xiaomi, BYD, and others. He said that the Chinese market is quite unique, with the largest number of engineers, the most computer scientists, and the largest consumer population in the world. The consequences of not participating in the Chinese market are hard to predict, but it is unlikely to be a good thing.

He then went on to directly praise Huawei (Huawei) as an "extremely innovative, large-scale, and technologically advanced" company, excelling in everything from smartphones to self-driving cars and AI technology. He stated that even if Nvidia did not enter the Chinese market, services would still be provided by Huawei and other Chinese chip manufacturers, cloud service providers, and startups.

Jen-Hsun Huang does not view competition as a war; he states that without competition, there would be no large market, and there would be no prosperity or growth. He emphasizes that many of NVIDIA's customers are also competitors, but they can cooperate because today's world is highly interdependent. He further stresses that the world is vast, and competition and cooperation can coexist, allowing for mutual respect and appreciation.

AI is the greatest technological revolution in history, and Nvidia will become the global AI infrastructure driver.

Jen-Hsun Huang believes that AI is the greatest technological revolution in human history, more fundamental and larger than electricity and the internet, and will become the infrastructure of every country and every industry in the future.

AI can double everyone's abilities, as if suddenly everyone can run super fast, fly, create, and write stories. He further pointed out that AI is the strongest tool for equality; even if you haven't attended college or are not a professional painter or writer, AI can help you express and create.

Finally, Jen-Hsun Huang shared about his 30-year career, admitting that he wakes up every day feeling like NVIDIA is about to go bankrupt, a feeling that has not changed from the early days of the startup to the company's market value exceeding a trillion.

The only pleasure is seeing the achievements of the company, employees, and partners, like seeing a friend build a new car, or seeing OpenAI, Google, and Elon Musk launch new AI products. He is quite excited because he has somewhat participated in it. He hopes that Nvidia will always maintain a sense of crisis and not become complacent.
