The "Kabuki Web3 project" led by Ichikawa Danjuro has launched - Participation Certificate NFT to be released in October

Kabuki actor the 13th Ichikawa Danjuro has been appointed as the leader of the "Japanese Traditional Culture Promotion project party," which aims to promote Japan's traditional culture to the world using Web3 technology.

This project was announced on August 4 by the comprehensive media organization DAAAMO, which had also announced a business partnership with Fuji TV in 2023, and One to Ten, which provides AI/XR solutions. The first phase will kick off with the "Kabuki project."

This initiative aims to reconstruct traditional Japanese culture and its spirit, including Kabuki, into an "experiential" content using technologies such as NFTs and the metaverse, and deliver it to a wide audience both domestically and internationally.

Specifically, we aim to promote cultural understanding through the overseas expansion of dedicated metaverse spaces and 3D virtual theaters, as well as to form a co-creative community where NFT holders can participate.

As a future development, NFTs that will serve as participation certificates for the project party are scheduled to be sold starting in October 2025.

NFT holders will be granted rights such as viewing exclusive content and participating in project proposals. In the future, we aim to establish a new model for cultural inheritance originating from Japan, with the cooperation of the Agency for Cultural Affairs, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and overseas administrative agencies in mind.

Movements that link traditional Japanese assets with Web3 technology, like this project, are becoming more active. A symbolic example is the "Bonsai NFT" developed by the Sony Group.
