In the financial markets, retail investors often face tremendous challenges. Many mistakenly believe that holding a losing position can bring about a turnaround, unaware that this is often a shortcut to losses. After experiencing three painful liquidations, I finally realized an important truth: getting on board with a light position and rolling profits is the correct way for retail investors to turn things around.
The core of this strategy lies in controlling risk and leveraging market volatility. First, we must understand that the market will not change direction because of our persistence. On the contrary, light positions and trial and error can allow us to test market trends without taking on excessive risk.
Specifically, my trading strategy includes the following key steps:
1. Light Position Trial and Error: Use only about 15% of the position for exploratory trading each time. Only increase investment when market signals are clear to avoid reckless actions during uncertain phases.
2. Trend-based Position Increase: Only consider increasing the position when a floating profit of more than 8% is achieved. The key here is to use only the profits already obtained to add to the position, always protecting the principal from erosion.
3. Timely Take Profit: After reaching the preset target, quickly cash out 40% of the position as profit. Set a take profit for the remaining part and continue to drive the next trading cycle.
The advantage of this method is that it helps us avoid common trading traps. Many traders are reluctant to exit even when they see a small profit, only to watch their gains disappear and even incur losses. An overly heavy position can lead to a loss of composure and irrational decision-making.
Remember, achieving success in trading is not about making all-in heavy bets, but rather understanding how to gradually accumulate profits. By getting on board with a light position and rolling profits, we can steadily increase returns while protecting the principal.
This trading method requires patience and discipline, but in the long run, it can help retail investors gain a foothold in the rapidly changing market and gradually achieve financial goals. Do not be tempted by short-term windfall profits; true success comes from a deep understanding of the market and strict risk management.
