Ethereum documentary "Vitalik: The Story of Ethereum" is about to be released.

Ethereum was conceived in 2013 by the young and talented programmer Vitalik Buterin. Inspired by Bitcoin's blockchain technology, he envisioned a platform that was not limited to digital currency. With the assistance of a professional team, Vitalik developed Ethereum and officially released it in 2015. As a result, Vitalik is hailed as the father of Ethereum and is also known as "Vitalik the God".

Ethereum is a decentralized, open-source public blockchain platform that supports smart contracts. Its native token ETH is the second largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization globally, and Ethereum is also one of the most widely used blockchains at present.

After three years of filming and production, the Ethereum documentary "Vitalik: The Story of Ethereum" will meet the audience this year. The film was originally titled "Ethereum: The Infinite Garden," but was ultimately renamed to avoid confusion with the Ethereum Foundation.

This documentary is independently produced by Optimist, with Carrie Weprin as the producer and Zach Ingrasci and Chris Temple as co-directors. Former Coinbase product manager Linda Xie participated as an advisor. The filming budget comes from 1035.96 ETH raised through the community in 2021.

A Letter to the Ethereum Community

In 2021, we first met Vitalik Buterin. He was carrying a backpack, joking and writing a blog about Verkle trees. Despite playing an important role in the crypto revolution, Vitalik is down-to-earth, breaking the stereotypes of "crypto bros" and "arrogant founders" in mainstream media.

Later, we met Xie Xin, who became our guide in exploring this ecosystem. We quickly immersed ourselves in this field and raised 1035.96 Ether through NFT crowdfunding. The film industry also took notice of this non-traditional approach, allowing us to produce a completely independent film without the influence of large media companies.

During the three years of filming, we witnessed the NFT craze, the turmoil of the global order, the outbreak of scandals, and the most ambitious software upgrade in history. From 2021 to 2023, the Ethereum community faced severe trials. But regardless of the challenges, Vitalik has consistently adhered to the vision of an open internet.

"Vitalik: The Story of Ethereum" is a documentary about the humanity and spirit behind the technology. It is suitable for community members, cryptocurrency enthusiasts, and skeptics. Although it cannot cover the entire story of Ethereum, we hope to make this story more understandable and relatable through Vitalik's perspective.
