OpenSea is making a strong push in three key areas: gaming, Web3 native, and consumer loyalty.
OpenSea Vice President: The company is not seeking a sale, focusing on development in three major areas.
Recently, Kelly Digregorio, Vice President and Head of Content Partnerships at OpenSea, stated in an interview that the company's CEO has never indicated a desire to sell OpenSea. She explained, "I believe there may have been a miscommunication in that interview, which led to the media's representation differing from the CEO's original intent."
Regarding the development of the NFT market, Kelly stated that OpenSea is advancing innovation in multiple areas. In the gaming sector, the company is collaborating with Gunzilla Games to integrate its Avalanche subnet, allowing players to trade in-game NFT assets. In the music field, OpenSea has partnered with the Coachella music festival to launch a series of pass NFTs.
In terms of technology upgrades, OpenSea has upgraded from Seaport 1.5 to version 1.6, introducing the pre-execution area hook feature, which allows for the enforcement of creator fees on secondary sales across all transactions. The company has also launched ERC-721C compatibility, allowing creators to implement programmable and enforceable creator earnings.
Kelly revealed that OpenSea is currently focusing on three areas: gaming, Web3 native sectors, and consumer loyalty. She believes that the gaming sector has great potential because the gaming community is tech-savvy and games allow NFTs to perform diverse functions.
Regarding emerging concepts like NFTFi, Kelly stated that we need to observe their final development direction. She believes that NFTFi may just be a fractional ownership of NFTs, but how to create value specifically is still to be explored by various companies.
In competition with platforms like Blur, Kelly emphasized that OpenSea focuses more on differentiated factors such as creator tools and user experience. The company has launched products like OpenSea Studio and OpenSea Wallet, and has collaborated with platforms like Base for promotional activities.
Kelly stated that OpenSea places great importance on trust and security, and has introduced measures such as the Copymint detection system. The company is also actively expanding its global business, with development potential in various verticals such as gaming and art creation in different regions.
Regarding regulatory issues, Kelly believes this is a topic that is often discussed, but not the primary focus of OpenSea. As a trusted marketplace, the company has implemented strong trust and safety measures to ensure industry participants feel secure and reliable.
