London fake Uber driver steals $123,000 in Crypto Assets from tourists
According to Gate News bot, Decrypt reported that American tourist Jacob Irwin-Cline was the victim of a Crypto Assets theft in London's West End. On May 9th, early in the morning, when Jacob left the Soho nightclub The Roxy, a driver impersonating an Uber intercepted him. The driver drugged Jacob using a substance in a cigarette, causing him to lose consciousness, and then obtained his phone password to directly access his Revolut account.
Criminals stole $72,000 worth of XRP, $50,000 in Bitcoin, and other small Crypto Assets, totaling over $123,000 in losses. Police investigations confirmed that this is a new case of "wrench attack" targeting Crypto Assets holders in Europe. Currently, the police have not arrested any suspects.
