According to ChainCatcher news, as reported by Crypto Briefing, Algeria officially enacted Law No. 25-10 on July 24, which comprehensively bans activities related to crypto assets. The law prohibits the issuance, buying, selling, holding, use, and promotion of crypto assets, while categorizing crypto mining, the use of digital wallets, and the operation of exchanges as illegal activities. Violators will face imprisonment of 2 months to 1 year, as well as fines ranging from 200,000 to 1,000,000 dinars (approximately 1,540 to 7,700 USD). If it involves organized crime networks or financial criminal activities, the penalties will be further increased. The bill defines cryptocurrency as property, income, funds, or financial assets, aimed at strengthening anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regulations, and aligning national standards with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
