Jeffrey Hovenier, the US Ambassador to Turkey, said that Turkey seems to believe that the current tensions between Israel, Iran and Hezbollah will not escalate into a full-scale war. He said, 'They (Turkey) are doing everything they can to ensure that the situation does not escalate, and they seem to be more confident than we are that the situation will not escalate.' Hovenier said at a roundtable with journalists in Istanbul: 'We are asking all allies with any relationship with Iran to persuade them to ease tensions, including Turkey.'
